Veteran retailer Toombul Music will close its doors at Centro Toombul 30th June 2008 to pursue other options.

The electronics Home Cinema division of the business (known as Electronic Interiors) will be relocated to unit 2/180 Northgate Rd, Northgate, Brisbane under the ownership of Justin and Jessie Bull.

Electronic Interiors will open doors mid July.

The well established Toombul Music business will operate as an online/telephone ordering service for all your hard to obtain music and DVD.

The decision not to renew our lease at Toombul is influenced by two factors.

1. The rapid emergence of internet distribution services of music and video software products has resulted in an ongoing global decline in physical retail sales of music and DVD, which negatively impacts the volumes and margins of our traditional core business.

2. The retail shopping centre environment in which we trade has not kept pace with formidable new local competition, thus weakening consumer growth essential to combat increasing costs.

While our time has sadly come to an end at the precinct, fresh business opportunities exist for our family. Our new business Electronic Interiors is well established in the consultation and installation of home entertainment technologies, and its relocation to new are larger permises will match the unprecedented growth of emerging new technologies within the industry. And providing an online customer service hotline for our long term Toombul Music customers to ensure the continuance of our traditional service values.

Toombul Music began over 40 years ago at Westfield Toombul (now Centro) and became a retail icon, winning countless awards for retailing excellence and was renowned for the presentation of hundreds of celebrities and superstars, on the centre stage. These unique events not only assisted the careers of many new and established artists, but bought extraordinary satisfaction to its many customers over the years.
